for my husband

i didn’t sleep that well last night, neither did you. but i’m the one who gets to take a nap. not today but most days this is true. it never seems to balance out quite right.

you always pump the gas while i stay warm inside the car. this is just one example of why i want to thank you for all the little things you do. like waking me up so i won’t be late, changing the oil in the car, bringing me home surprises from the store.

well every pair must have a give and take, and i do try my best to keep up. i’m a pro with a vacuum and steaming and folding laundry, even if it is late. but i know how far this is from enough.

there is no tally, you don’t keep count, but that doesn’t mean that i can’t see,
what a feat it is that you never run out, of anything i ever need.

basically, it is the little things that don’t get mentioned so i am mentioning them here. like humoring my mother on the phone. and taking care to be real quiet when you get ready in the morning so that i can dream a little more.

i loved you in your 20′s, i’m gonna love you in your 30′s. i’m gonna love you in your 90′s. maybe by then i will be as good to you as you have been to me.
