cookies for dogs. (and cats!)

a couple weeks ago we celebrated martha stewart’s birthday. oh that girl. to mark the occasion i made peanut butter cookies that all three, yes all three, of my four-legged babies could enjoy. milo enjoys peanut butter just about as much as the pups.

2 cups of flour. any flour will do. because of sam’s wheat allergy (i know!) i put in gluten free flours. 1 cup of gluten free all purpose flour and 1 cup gluten free whole grain flour.
1 tablespoon baking powder.
1 cup peanut butter. i made my own peanut butter using the trader joe’s peanut flour. i added water to the peanut flour and voila, peanut butter. (if i am making this for me i add some honey for some sweetener. but i didn’t think the pups would care. they didn’t.)
1 cup milk. i used almond milk.

mix flour and baking powder together. in another larger bowl, mix peanut butter and milk. gradually add the dry ingredients. mix well and roll onto a floured surface. roll into 1/4-inch thickness; cut into desired shapes.

bake on a cookie sheet (greased or not, it didn’t seem to matter). bake at 375ºF for about 15 minutes, turn over cookies over and bake another 5 minutes.

cool completely, then treat your pups and in my case, cat too. (or sneak one for your gluten free loving self.)

make sure to serve with a fresh bowl of water.

oh nap time after a belly full of treats. simple bliss.

Ahem, what about husbandsses cookies ?
