day two in vegas.

after spending the previous day enjoying the outdoors we decided day two would be devoted to taking in the sights and sounds on the strip.
we started our day at the pools in our hotel, caesars palace.  a little bit about our stay at caesars.  the room was lovely.  huge bathroom and view overlooking the venetian on the strip.  the restaurants, phenomenal (more later in this post!).  the casino, gross.  the husband and i don’t smoke.  none of our friends do.  our state doesn’t allow smoking in restaurants.  we just aren’t around it.  the second we walked into our hotel to check in we were hit with cigarette smoke from the casino.  we were not expecting this.  luckily our room was in a non-smoking tower, which meant the entire building was non-smoking.  but if you are headed to vegas and are not a smoker and mind smoke you have been warned.

we headed south on the strip to new york, new york.  it was such a fun atmosphere.  the casino was on a lower level (i.e. no smoking) where the shops and restaurants were.  oh and there is a roller coaster.  completely awesome!
inside we found broadway burger bar.  beef that is 100% organic, free-roaming, and grass fed.  the  husband and i were excited!  you could build your own burger starting with beef, turkey, veggie, or salmon.

they were completely accommodating to my gluten allergy.  we shared the garlic fresh cut fries.  major yum!  my burger was a southwestern style with guacamole, spicy pepper hummus, and tortilla strips.  i don’t remember what the husband got.  i was too involved with my own plate of deliciousness.

after walking off our lunches we headed back to caesars palace.  right outside we made a pit stop at serendipity for their famous frozen hot chocolate to share.  it did not disappoint.
i am quickly realizing this is becoming a sole food post.  there were lots of sights and lots of steps walked.  and clearly lots of good food enjoyed.

after a quick nap, we got dressed up for our night out.  my sequin heels were on and i officially felt like i was in vegas.  dinner was at bobby flay’s mesa grill.  it was OUTSTANDING.  and then some.

their margaritas were the best i have ever had.  i had a white peach.  the husband had a cactus pear.  if they were not $13 a piece i would have had a couple more.

i ordered tiger shrimp and roasted garlic corn tamale with a corn-cilantro sauce.  and a blue corn crusted chile relleno.  my spice loving taste buds were loving every single bite.
we loved this restaurant so much that we went back the next night.  thats right.  more margaritas.  more spice.  perfect!
after dinner we went to the original cirque du soleil show, mystere.  it was everything i had hoped it would be.  jaw dropping.  awe-inspiring.  phenomenal.  i didn’t want it to end.

next up, our day at the grand canyon!
